What a Bomb Shelter? Yep we have that too

A Bomb Shelter is also in this house (The way things are going we may need one of those)
Right now we are using it to store paint and supplies we need to fix the place up.

Wonder how those walls will hold up to a couple of coats of paint.?

Haven't seen a mail box on a house in a long time.

The Mail Man delivers Mail to this box but I'm wondering why all the other houses in the area has Mail Boxes at the street.
An Older lady owned this house infact she bought it new with her husband in 1957.   I'm wondering if the Postal Service delivered to her door because of  a health condition.

  2. I have a mailbox on my house. It's way cool. The postman always rings twice. I do not have a bomb shelter. Now I have to figure out how to add one to my humble abode. I need to keep up with the Joneses and the Paulases.

  3. Supi~This house is the only one that has one.

Lola, Hope my post man will ring twice :)

BTW That bomb shelter has a musty odor in it. I'm thinking I might take my chances on the bomb.

I hope you two have a Great Day today.

@Lola, Your sis is in my prayers. I have a younger sister that is going through some of the same things as yours. She has bladder cancer and with our Mom passing away in April this year things for her has gotton worse.

  6. Bomb shelter, nifty. Hope you don't need to run more electrical into that room. If you do, it looks like you'll need a hammer drill w/a masonry bit to get through. The musty smell might be eliminated by scrubbing the room with a solution of TSP and bleach. then drying it thoroughly. To keep the smell away, keep a dehumidifier running in there.

Hopefully moisture isn't seeping in through the walls. If so, that heavy-duty super-stinky drylock paint is pretty good, but you'll need warm weather, a gas mask, and lots of ventilation when applying it.

The mailbox is cool. Our entire neighborhood still has the boxes on the houses. Our house had two, and I finally removed one of them to avoid having misplaced mail - especially bills. The mailman takes shortcuts through our yard to get to the neighbors house, that is until the snow gets too deep in the yard.

Our prayers are with both sisters.
